Dr. Kokonas has furthered her studies at The Centre for Advanced Dental Education for Oral Plastic Surgery in Dallas, as well as The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Miami and The Scottsdale Centre for Dentistry. Dr. Kokonas is very current in many aspects of comprehensive, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry. Dr. Kokonas also has the privilege to be a part of The Spear Institute Study Faculty Club, as well as other dental organizations

Dental Implants: Dr Kokonas Invited to Germany for VIP Tour and Training
April 2007: Dr Kokonas and Dr Ken Serota were invited to attend the VIP tour and training of the Friadent/Densply Tulsa Dental Ankylos Implant Facility in Frankfurt and Hanau Germany. The Doctors will be working together to educate patients and other dentists on the Ankylos system as it correlates with the endo/implant algorithm.
Digital Radiography 2007
We are very excited to announce that Dentistry in Bolton is now digital!!!
Computerized digital radiographs take instant and extremely low radiation x-rays or images less than 90% radiation than conventional films. They use no film or chemical to process. This is great news for us and the environment!
The image of the digital radiograph is projected in a matter of seconds onto a computer monitor for immediate dicussion, assesment, education and treatment planning. There is no longer any wasted time on processing, retakes and mounting. Thus, our team spends less time in the dark room and more time with you discusasing the health of your teeth.
LOCAL DENTIST MINGLES WITH THE MASTERS AT THE PANKEY INSTITUTE
Dr. Chrissy Kokonas, Dentist of Bolton, attended the Dr. Frank Spear Master's Experience class at The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Florida. Dr. Kokonas took part in an interactive class designed to help dentists develop deeper relationships with patients and learn the most advanced dental techniques.
In this class, Dr. Kokonas was exposed to the ideas of some of the greatest minds in dentistry today. Dr. Frank Spear spoke about occlusion (bite), esthetics, TMD, implant and comprehensive dentistry.
The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education offers a comprehensive learning experience for dentists and other dental professionls. Its courses of study are recognized by leading dental associations and attract students from all over the world who want to provide their patients with top-quality, personalized care.
Dr. Kokonas recently celebrated her Dentistry class 10 year Reunion in Chicago February 2007.

Congratulations!! Dr. Kokonas was on the Executive of the Halton Peel Dental Association 2006-2007, a branch of the Ontario Dental Association. Dr. Kokonas was also a Councillor (Alternate) for the Ontario Dental Association 2006-2007.

Dental Implants
We are proud to announce that Dr. Kokonas has complted her certification for surgical placement of dental implants for select cases. Not only can the treatment planning and restoring of dental implants be completed at our office now, the surgical placement can also be performed. There are, however, cases where a periodontist or oral surgeon may be required as an adjunct to treatment.

Cerec
Using a camera, a computer and a milling machine. Dr. Kokonas, is preparing and placing natural looking ceramic filling for patients in a single office visit.
The new dental components belong to a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing) instruments allows dentists to repair a damaged tooth in one visit using tooth-colored restorations or "fillings." Dentists no longer need to take impressions or create temporaries for some cases and unlike the old procedure where patients made a second visit to insert the restoration, this procedure is done in one visit.
The cerec system enables, Dr. Kokonas to satisfy patients seeking a long lasting esthetic alternative to silver or plastic fillings Veneers and partial to full crowns and all other single tooth restorations can be created by cerec.
To make the restoration, Dr. Kokonas first paints a reflective powder over the prepared tooth. Using a special camera, she takes an accurate picture of the tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where CAD technology is used to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the new restoration is bonded to the surface of the old tooth.
