If you have a decayed, cracked or damaged tooth, our team at Dentistry in Bolton may recommend a dental filling to repair your tooth and prevent further decay.
What is a Dental Filling?
A dental filling is a restoration that is used to repair teeth with dental decay (or cavities). Fillings are also recommended for teeth that have been cracked or damaged or to replace an existing filling that is damaged or old.
What types of fillings do we use?
We use bonded fillings made of a composite resin that is similar in colour to a patient's tooth. We use this material so the tooth blends in naturally with the patient's smile.
How does the fillings procedure work?
Your dentist will first identify and remove the decay in your tooth. Next, they will apply a bonding solution to the area before adding the composite filling material. A high-intensity blue light is used to harden the filling in only a few seconds. Your dentist will then check to ensure the filling’s shape fits your bite and will make any necessary adjustments.
